New design brings Alevo one step closer to starting production at our manufacturing facility in Concord, NC.
Last week we gave a sneak peek of a new GridBank design in our latest press release about our deal with Systems Control. Click here to read the entire press release. This new design brings Alevo one step closer to starting production at our manufacturing facility in Concord, NC.
The new GridBank design includes a separate cooling unit and 11 doors on each side. Behind each door is a rack with a string of Alevo Batteries. Each one of the strings can be set on any one of the Alevo Stacked Services providing the ultimate flexibility.
Alevo Battery Technology (ABT) is the first inorganic lithium battery. Besides being non-flammable these batteries are extremely reliable with a long predictable life with test cells still running with over 50,000 cycles.
Alevo GridBanks are large energy reservoirs (2MW / 1 MWh) that store and deliver grid-scale electricity on demand. GridBanks alone are not the solution. Alevo Analytics delivers smart data analytics that advises its customers where to place the GridBanks and how to use them for optimal results. Alevo GridBank Energy Storage and Alevo Analytics are designed in simple terms to make the grid work better.
We expect the first GridBank enclosure to arrive in Concord before June.
250-kilowatts of Alevo Battery Technology will become part of the Duke Energy Microgrid Research Center in Mount Holly, North Carolina. Duke Energy established a testing center at their Mount Holly Training facility a few years ago to explore new microgrid technologies and take an in-depth look at how new microgrid technology can enhance the grid. In late 2014, a virtually unknown company called Alevo announced it was entering the energy storage market with a new inorganic, sulfur-based lithium ion battery technology that it had acquired from the bankrupt German company fortu PowerCell. Alevo entered the U.S. with a big splash, investing over $68 million in the 3.5 million-square-foot former Philip Morris […]
